Guten Tag

Investigating the robustness of the illusory truth effect across individual differences in cognitive ability
“Conclusion
In line with previous work, we found that individuals tend to believe repeated information more compared to new information. Across seven studies, this tendency was not reliably and substantially related to cognitive ability, need for cognitive closure, experiential thinking, and both self-reported and performance based measures of analytic thinking.
The absence of an association between these key individual difference variables in judgment and decision making and the illusory truth effect is theoretically intriguing, and raises the question about which alternative factors may underlie the observed variance of the illusory truth effect. Given the ease by which repetition can influence the perceived truth, and the potential power of misinformation, we hope that the present contribution will inspire other scholars to further examine the potential role of individual differences in the illusory truth”
