    Anaesthesiologist caught outmocking and insulting sedated patient

    Reston, Virginia: Sitting in his surgical gown inside a large medical suite a man preparedfor his colonoscopy by pressing record on his smartphone, to capture theinstructions his doctor would give him after the procedure.

    But as soon as he pressed play on his wayhome, he was shocked out of his anaesthesia-induced stupor: He found that hehad recorded the entire examination, and that the surgical team had mocked and insulted him as soon as he drifted off to sleep.


    The jury awarded the man $US100,000 ($129,000) for defamation - $US50,000 ($64,000) eachfor the comments about the man having syphilis and tuberculosis - and$US200,000 ($258,000) for medical malpractice, as well as the $US200,000($258,000) in punitive damages.
